PMG Advantage

Permanent Magnet Generator

Despite great efforts to improve the wind turbine gearbox designs, analysis, manufacturing, lubrication systems, control systems, etc., wind farm operators still suffer costly gearbox repairs and replacements multiple times in the life of their wind turbines.Wind turbine gearbox also needs regular oil change to ensure the turbine functions properly and effectively.

These PMG's don't require a gearbox since they are directly coupled to the turbine blades and are have been designed to produce a high power output at very low RPM.

Permanent Magnet Generators (PMGs), first introduced on a large scale to the wind industry in the early to mid-2000s, are expected to continue to increase market share from 17% in 2011 to nearly 40% by 2015. PMGs have a growing group of supporters because of the flexibility, improved reliability, and increased efficiency that they bring to drivetrain configurations.
